Blinds with Blackout Curtains?
Quote from HomeFlipper on August 11, 2020, 6:26 pmI’ve found that I have a difficult time dealing with all of the light that comes into our room in the summer time. Plus, I’ve also noticed that the space is harder to cool because of all the light. Would a combination of blinds and blackout curtains help to solve that? Or is there a better combination that I should consider?

Quote from elizabeth on August 19, 2020, 11:47 amWhat type of blinds would you use? I would think that a simple blind (inside the window frame) with a blackout curtain would be best. All of the bedrooms in my house are this way. It keeps the room pretty dark.

Quote from Nancymac on August 31, 2020, 5:19 pmI found that having blinds were very difficult to clean and would not suggest them to be installed at all.
What I did was buy light sheers that were hung underneath the blackout curtains so during the heat of the summer the room stayed cool. But on days I wanted to see the sun as I found it dark and dismal, the black curtain I put a decorative bar at the end of each side of the window it made the room nice when the sun went round to the other side of the house.
I also found in winter the room stayed warmer with the insulated blackout curtains.

Hey, thanks for this simple but effective hack. I will try this out soon. I have had issues trying to keep the inside warm while at the same time reduce my Air Conditioning costs. This looks like an inexpensive way of achieving just that.
