Skylights?
Has anyone ever put a skylight in their house? How hard was it? We are going to try to put one in our bathroom. We are looking for more natural light in there. Anyone have any tips or ideas on what to do or not do?
Oh wow. No, I have not ever done anything with skylights. I'd almost say to hire someone for that one. You wouldn't want your ceiling and roof to fall in? Good luck if you do.
I tried to install skylights in my house once, but it did not go so well. I agree with Charli, it would be best if you hire someone. Electricity is a very dangerous thing to work with, please be safe if you decide to do this project yourself.
I would agree that this might be a great job for a professional. If you want to try it, I would reach out to a professional and ask questions. Where are you putting them? We have a couple in our bathrooms.

I haven't been lucky enough to put a skylight in my house, but I'd really like to! I love natural light and a skylight would be a delightful way to get more of that kind of light in my home.
I wouldn't be brave enough to install a skylight myself! There's too many things that could go wrong. I agree with the previous posters. Definitely hire someone. I would definitely recommend a skylight. My mother loves hers!
I have put a skylight in and had no issue. You just need to be sure that you are prepared before you start. Also be sure that you know what you are doing. If you are nervous, you might want to hire it out.
Keep the size of the skylight relevant to the size of the bathroom. You don't want half of that ceiling being skylight. You want natural light, but not ALL natural light. 🙂
