Your thoughts on Wallpaper?

I'm actually a big fan of home-flipping and home-design shows and couldn't help but notice that wallpaper has been very popular in many homes. As a matter of fact, I'm a full-time wallcovering installer and serve my city with two other paperhangers - and we've been as busy as the holidays!

The most common wallpaper colors I install are silvers and grasscloth. Silver wallcoverings present a contemporary touch and grasscloth has always been really popular here in Florida - probably all thanks to the Tommy Bahama style we've had for years...

I'd like to know what the rest of the forum thinks about wallpaper. Have you recently hired a paperhanger? What kind of wallpaper styles suit you?

Recently I have watched a very interesting video on wallpapers, the new trend is 3D looking wallpapers which is a cool idea, and this will definitely add value to your home.
Hope you enjoy this

I've actually installed several 3D brick wallpaper's on accent walls. It's a really different approach to traditional wallcoverings. You definitely see these in more commercial settings.

Wallpapers are actually very convenient home improvement solutions. They are economical and you have access to a plethora of designs.

A clever designer could do wonders with wallpaper.

More, They are economical to change, so you can have a new space more often.

Is wallpaper making a comeback? Honestly I hate it! I have spent many years and muscle tearing down old wallpaper. I'm talking years and years, layer after layer of wallpaper. My aunt once was into buying really old farmhouses and redoing them.

I prefer to paint to change things up, not use wallpaper.

We had grasscloth wallcoverings in our last home, but our young children wouldn't stop touching it, which is understandable I suppose since it's a bit textured. It began looking grimy though in places because of that, so we skipped it when we moved.

My wife found a fabric wallpaper tutorial on Pinterest that worked well. She just used some liquid fabric starch to attach it to the wall. I don't think it would look great all over the room, but it makes for a nice accent wall.

Bryant, that sounds pretty interesting! I've never seen fabric wallpaper. Was it easy to apply?

My problem is that I never seem to match the seams up very good. It always looked like an amateur did the job (which was true).

I'm going to look into fabric wallpaper to see if I like it! I'm always looking for something different from everyone else.

Hi, I've done a similar project and it was a bit tedious, but it was easier than hanging permanent or semi-permanent wallpaper. You can reposition your fabric panels as much as you need to in order to get things straight, plus it's simple to take down. You should be able to tug it off in one go. If you want to change the look of your walls without the fussy work, try some of those removable vinyl stickers. My kids love them and we switch them up often. No muss, no fuss.

That is so interesting! Fabric wallpaper squares... sounds like those carpet squares. I'm going to look into that. I've never seen them before but I find it pretty interesting! I think my daughter would love that.

Wallpaper can add an instant new look to any room and change the atmosphere of the room.

It is a also a very tedious task to renovate and replace if a new tenant does not like it but easy to replace.

I like the idea of wallpaper on one wall to give it focus, but be careful about the type you might choose, as removal may damage the wall.
