Blinds in a young child's room
Quote from Nancymac on July 16, 2020, 7:55 pmBlinds with long, exposed cords can pose a strangulation hazard for small children. Before leaving your toddler unsupervised in their room, ensure that all cords are safely out of reach. If you choose to install blinds, be sure to pick up and install a safety device designed to control cord access.
Blind Cord Wraps help prevent strangulation from blind cords by keeping them out of reach of children. Simply wrap the blind cord around the prongs to wind up the excess length.

Quote from BrianB on July 16, 2020, 8:10 pmI always wrap them up high, where they can't usually be reached. I have even shortened them in the past, because somethings the cords they have are just too long, and it doesn't make sense to me.
I did the simple thing of putting a nail by the side of the curtain where I wrap the cord these days. It's simple, and effective. 🙂

Sounds like you have the safest blinds. 🙂 I want to eventually upgrade all of my windows with vertical blinds. Then we don't even need to worry about strings.

Quote from TonyFL on August 8, 2020, 11:35 pmI wouldn't keep blinds in a young child's room, period. Not only is strangulation from the wires a common fate, but blinds aren't as durable as curtains or shades.
