Blinds in a young child's room

Blinds with long, exposed cords can pose a strangulation hazard for small children. Before leaving your toddler unsupervised in their room, ensure that all cords are safely out of reach. If you choose to install blinds, be sure to pick up and install a safety device designed to control cord access.

Blind Cord Wraps help prevent strangulation from blind cords by keeping them out of reach of children. Simply wrap the blind cord around the prongs to wind up the excess length.

I always wrap them up high, where they can't usually be reached. I have even shortened them in the past, because somethings the cords they have are just too long, and it doesn't make sense to me.

I did the simple thing of putting a nail by the side of the curtain where I wrap the cord these days. It's simple, and effective. 🙂

Never really thought of this, will definitely keep this in mind!

Oh, it is so important and I never thought about that. I always try to maintain my house really safe for my children.

Thanks for sharing the tips

My blinds do not have a string, instead a long plastic rod that is rotated to either close or open the blinds. But if you have string based mechanism definitely do consider these points for safety

Sounds like you have the safest blinds. 🙂 I want to eventually upgrade all of my windows with vertical blinds. Then we don't even need to worry about strings.

I wouldn't keep blinds in a young child's room, period. Not only is strangulation from the wires a common fate, but blinds aren't as durable as curtains or shades.
