Tiling bathroom wall

We have decided to tile our bathroom walls (inside the shower). We have never tiled before and I don't want to mess this up. Any tips? I think we are going to do a mix so there will be no specific pattern.

I like that you aren't doing a pattern. That is half of the battle, making it line up and look right. I would watch some YouTube videos to see how they do it. It's better to see the process if you have not tiled yet.

Tiling really isn't as hard as some people make it out to be. The trick is to take your time. It helps that you aren't creating a pattern. Since this is your first job, I'd go with a grout that matches the tile since it tends to be more forgiving, and you won't notice the mistakes as much.

I didn't create a specific pattern either, but I still found it easier to lay my tiles out on a grid beforehand, so I didn't wind up with too many blues or too many greens in one area. You might try something like that too.
