Choosing a theme for a room.
Quote from Nancymac on September 3, 2020, 12:53 pmYou are ready for a fall project now that the summer is drawing to a close, but how is the best way of doing this?
One what is the use of the room? How Much space do you have? What is the lighting like in the room?
Let's say it is transforming your daughter's old bedroom, yes it is a shrine!
But she is off to a new life, now time to reclaim that space for you and your time of life.
Is going to be a new guest room, a space to rent out for income as a student room, or a place for you to relax, your nook.
When you figure out that first part the next steps fall in line, one by one.
The color palette once you have chosen a base color, then the furnishing falls in line, also the window treatment.
Enjoy, the adventure that you have chosen to embark on.
Let me know about some of your projects.

Quote from diygal on October 10, 2020, 9:46 amNeutrals are always the best option, in my opinion. You can add decorations and furniture with pops of color, but paint the walls too colorful and the whole room is overwhelming.

Quote from cheskaj on October 12, 2020, 6:01 pmWhat I do is I check Pinterest out for ideas. From there I go on Youtube for even more ideas and tips for the kind of room I'm designing. Is it a room that receives sun directly? Is it a room in the first floor? What age group would be using the room most often? What is the purpose of the room? The size of the room is something to consider as well!

Quote from Nancymac on November 8, 2020, 9:00 pmI think it is very important to know and understand the potential use of the room and if it will be used for more than one function and by the age of the individual.
By painting the colour of the walls in a neutral colour it can then be incorporated for almost any age and use of the room.
A small cozy room was created for a university student I provided the basics of bed and table but it was a huge job taking everything else out of the room so that the new room owner could make it their own.
It was wonderful what vibrance she brought into the room with colour and accessories.

Quote from Chippy on January 12, 2021, 4:31 amI think that a plain theme would be best. My parents did a room that was beach themed, but then when the house was sold a few years later, they ended up taking the whole thing apart. A simpler, neutral theme would have kept the amount of work (and cost!) down.
