Do Thermal Curtains Really Work?
And if so what are the advantages or disadvantages of using them?
The intention of thermal curtains, is that they're supposed to keep your home warm in the winter and cold in the summer. They're also similar to blackout curtains, or may even be another name for them.
I'd highly recommend them. I want to install more in my home, as I have a set in my room right now, and it does help with the summer heat for sure.
The only downside I can think of, is that it's a bit more dark, and the curtains can be kind of heavy, so you want to make sure they're on a good mount.
I would like to have more info, just now the heat is at its peak, and I really like to have a cooler home in the summer.
I am ok with winter.
So how does it work to keep the house cool during the summer but warm during the winter?

In regards to your question on how it works, the above article says:
Thermal curtains create a dead-air space between the window and the room, which reduces the amount of air infiltration and transfer of heat. By installing an insulating curtain over a window, heat is kept inside during the winter. During the summer, heat from the sun is reflected back to the outside. A tight seal limits the amount of heat that can escape through windows and affects how air circulates within a room.

Definitely recommend blackout curtains, my life has changed since having them (And save a bit on A/C and Heater bills)

Especially if all windows have a blackout curtain. It can help cool a house down quite a bit. My sister had her house done over with blackout curtains, and she says it feels cooler than it normally is. So, that's why I want to do the same with my house, and install them to all windows, and maybe even my front door.

Honestly, I have no idea. But from the name, i figure that they are meant to act as insulation of some sort. Dark-coloured curtain usually suffices. But am also curious to know how it works, i will be interested in the science behind it before I commit to buy one.
Yes, they are doing block wind and cold In England, they have been using thermal lined curtains forever, it seems.. I lived there for one year and was astounded at what proportion these curtains (in front of doors too, not solely windows) block cold and windy drafts. And yes, believe it or not, they are doing additionally muffle noise.
