Making throw pillows

12

I like to change things up for each season. Right now I still have winter pillows on my couch. I was looking at other designs and they are expensive and not very pretty. Has anyone made their own throw pillows for the couch? I can sew and they don't seem like they would be too hard to make.

I love this idea! You could pick your own material and then just buy pillow forms. Simple and just the style and pattern you want. I think I know what I'm doing this weekend! Make it be a changeable pillow topper.

I used to think that throw pillows were a hassle, but anytime my wife changes ours out, she gets loads of compliments on them. It's such a small thing, but I have to admit that they really do change the feel of the room.

@bryant - I completely agree. They change up a room/look and they are cheap! We even change the throw pillows on our reading nook window seating area. You should tell your wife to make some.

I jumped into this project and it was easy. I bought pillow forms and then made squares. I picked out several different patterns of material. I made 3 sets so far and I love them. I think I'm just going to swap the pillow up and use the same pillow form.

I really love this idea! I think that adding embroidery or cross-stitch designs would be a nice way to personalize the throw pillows even more. It sounds like making a basic pillow wouldn't be too difficult!

It is a good project to learn. Easy, relaxing and in my opinion it adds depth to a room. Makes the couch a lot comfier as well.

This is the cutest idea! I have some friends who are getting married soon. I think that I'll make some throw pillows for them as a wedding gift! 🙂

What a great idea! I don't know why I didn't think of this before! We made pillows for my daughter's day bed but never for the couch. I think we will work on some this weekend. My daughter loves to do DIY projects with me.

I'm so excited to try this. I've been looking for a new project to do with my kids. I think I'll buy some fabric paint and let the kids get creative. I'll then make throw pillows using the fabric they painted. 😀
