Could you use it for art purposes?

12

So I was a bit curious about the Rody tool and using it for other things, and was wondering if there is a way to use it for art purposes? I like to paint, draw, and do all kinds of art and was wondering if it could be used towards the making of my art?

Please clarify.

Best,

It seems like you could use it like any other straightedge. It doesn't look like it has a way to line it up with the edge of a table like a t-square though. But since it has 90-degree and 45-degree angles, you might be able to use it for some technical drawing. What kind of art do you like to do?

Yeah sure thing. I like to do a lot of drawing and art related projects, usually with cardboard and paper. Would I be able to use the RODY tool, to in turn, measure out certain angles and make certain designs? I hope I explained it a bit better, I can understand why my first post may have been confusing.

Hello BrianB,

I agree with CFenn that the tool may be able to be used on some technical drawing but the only way to find out is to try it.

CFenn,

Technical drawing sounds intriguing, although one would have to use the Clear style version of this tool, so as to see thorough the tool into the drawing.

Thanks,

RNO

Thanks. I think I'm going to pick one up this coming payday. 🙂 At least then I can just try it towards every application I can think of. 😀

When is about art, we can use anything if we are creative, never thought on the RODY rule before, but sure you can do a lot of things with such tool.

Myabe, even if it is not something totally new, you can do your usual stuff with the RODY saving time. I am thinking in architectural facade sketches for example.

It is good too see that we can use RODY tool for art as I seen people using similar tools when they are doing mechanical drawing as I did when I was student and this one would be nice addition to make creative art.

You should be able to include the tool in your arsenal of art supplies... all you have to do is be the artist you are and get creative. It's interesting to see this tool being used in art.
