Hanging Christmas lights

Too bad there isn't a tool for hanging Christmas lights! Word of wisdom - plug lights in to be sure they work before putting them up. We hung up numerous strands of Christmas lights outside this afternoon. We went to plug them in, half of them don't work! I love the lights but hate hanging them.

Ha... wouldn't that be nice. I can't even fathom how much time some people spend hanging lights. Some houses are absolutely gorgeous!

That is one thing that my parents taught me, always plug in before you hang them. Also, be sure to put them away nicely so you don't have a mess the next year.

Oh no! All that wasted time and now they don't work! That's something I learned the hard way too, plug them in to be sure they work.

I do agree that some people really spend a lot of time hanging lights and decorating the outside of their houses.

I would pay more money than I did for my phone for such a tool. A few years ago, I hung up Christmas lights because my whole family was coming over to my place. The lights didn't come on. I was really upset because they were brand new. Now I shop online for my lights since I found a reliable store to get them from.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is to drive around town and look at all the pretty lights. Some people really go all out this time of year. We do put a lot out too. It's my masterpiece (outside lights) and my wife works on the inside.

I'm glad that others have had the same issues. I won't be doing this again, I'll always plug them in first. The good news is that they are gorgeous, festive.

We also drive around town to see all the lights.

I just keep mine up during the year. I don't turn them on in July or anything, but I'm getting too old to keep going up and down on ladders twice a year.  🙁 I have replacement bulbs if I need them.

Oh no! I could never do that (up all year). We like to change things up every year. We might switch our colors or put them on differently. That is probably our problem, we don't always use the same lights each year.

I might hire someone to take down the lights from the edges of the roofs, then hang them low enough all around the house to where I can take them down without reaching. LOL

Wainscoting the outside with lights once a year.
