Homemade picture frames
I am planning on making some picture frames for gifts this year. What kind of wood would you use? Would you stain the wood, use clear coat or paint it? What about embellishments?
I absolutely love this idea and I bet the ones getting these will love it too. I would buy knotty pine and stain it. Imagine how beautiful it will look when you bring out the grain and knots with the stain.
I love this idea too. I bet they will turn out really nice. I would probably use either pine or cedar. If you use cedar, I would just apply a clear coat. I wouldn't paint any of them. You could leave them "naked" and let the receivers decide.
Did you end up doing this? If so, how did they turn out?
I want to try to use bark to make some. Regular board for the back and then use tree bark on the outside (front). I've seen a few and think it would look pretty cool.
