Outside window boxes

This year we are leaving the window boxes up all winter. My wife wants me to decorate them. Anyone have any thoughts on what I can add to them to be festive and also withstand the snow and ice?

Fill them with ball ornaments. Just skip the glass stuff and go for plastic, wood, or fabric materials instead. You can spray them with Scotchgard to give them some added protection.

You could use some bits of greenery from pine and cedar trees. Add in some pine cones and a festive bow and I bet it would look nice.

I was just going to say to add the Christmas balls, just no glass! I wish I had window boxes to use outside. I love the greenery idea too. I would add Christmas lights too, that would look really great.

We ended up buying large plastic (but glassy looking) balls (ornaments). I put lights around the outside of the box and then used garland (with lights) and put that inside the box. I have to say, it looks amazing! Thanks for the tips!
