Washing curtains
How often do you guys really wash your curtains? It's such a rare occurrence in my household. I didn't factor that in when I bought my curtains and the material isn't easy to clean. I think that might be what's causing my allergy problems.
Bleach is the only thing that works for mildew. You should wash it more often, also always close it after each shower so that it dries quicker. Another thing that helps is preventative measures. The daily cleaner that you see at the market. many brands many prices. If you train yourself to spray the shower and curtain after every use, it really helps.
I vacuum my window window treatments using a special attachment. (I have a cat and a dog so they tend so attract pet hair)
I take my curtains down and shake them out at least every other month. I only launder them one at most two times a year. I don't have pets so they don't get hairy.
If you think your curtains are causing allergy issues you might want to get rid of them and do vertical blinds.
I only wash ours once a year during spring cleaning. They don't get visibly dirty, but they do get dusty. So, I can see how washing your curtains more often might help. Personally, I just use a portable air purifier with a HEPA filter and it works wonders. Look into getting one of those.
I have those precise ones. I wash them on washing machine heat within the washer and air fluff dry within the drier.
I usually wash them once a month but in the meantime you can vacuum them if you think they need it. It’s complicated to wash them and then put them on again but you have to especially if you have white ones like I do.
I think it depends on curtains you own. Me personally I have very thin and translucent curtains so I wash them maybe like once a year. Meantime when curtains need some clean I do that with vacuum cleaner. But if you have thick curtains you definitely need to wash and care more often
The guy at the laundry and I have good terms , he washes them for me. once in two months I send them there for washing.
