What is the best placement?
Quote from BRogan81 on July 15, 2020, 6:32 pmI recently moved into a new house that has french doors leading to the backyard from the master bedroom. The sun sets in the same direction so the heat has been unbearable in my bedroom from 6 PM until it goes down. I want to install blackout curtains to cut back on the light coming in and hopefully cool the room down. I am just not sure where to hang the rod at. Should it be above the door frame or over the door frame? Also, how many inches above should it be placed if it should be above it?

Congratulations on your new house. I checked out your Curtains and they look nice. As far is where to mount your rod, I suggest to mount them above the door frame. Regarding your second question: " how many inches above should it be placed if it should be above it? " My advise is to first measure the length of the curtains to see how far above the ground you want them to end up in correlation with the top of your door, and then you will determine the number of inches that you need above the door frame.
Best,

Quote from RossG on July 16, 2020, 2:26 pmHi Rody, I'm planning to do the same with the blackout curtains, is there any particular reason you recommend mounting them above the door frame? In my case it might be a bit difficult since the door frame is nearer to the ceiling (We have a low ceiling, and a large door).

Normally, mounting the rod above the door frame is a common general practice to most installers. However, in your case, see if there is enough room on both sides of the door frame to mount the rod there.

Thanks for the input 🙂

Thank you, I am loving having my own space to finally do what I want with. My husband and I were renting before and very limited on what we could actually do inside the home.
Okay, so I hang the rod above the frame and just go as high as I need for the curtains to fit well. I am new to having these french doors, never even been in a home that had some so I was a bit confused about what to do. Thanks for responding and letting me know!
